PLOT Throughout history encounters with magic have been documented. As skeptical as the records may seem, they have in fact been true. One of the most famous past events in our history would have to be the Salem Witch Trials. Though many people now aways say the people where on a wild goose chase the fact of the matter is, they were actually right about them.
However, they were wrong in many ways. Not all of the women they prosecuted were true witches, and the ones that were weren't dangerous at all. Though with their impending doom fastly approaching all of the witches called a meeting to discuss the future of magic. You see though witches did exist in the past they were a rarity and it just so happened they all lived in Salem, which was oh so very unfortunate. You might also be wondering how they had a meeting if they were in jail. The answer to that is Astral Projection. Each of them projected themselves into the astral plane where they created a plan to save the future of magic.
Taking a note from an old witches folklore, the women decided to preserve their powers in stones. You see legend has it back in the beginning of magic there were five powers that were so powerful that if anyone possessed even one of them the balance of good and evil, right and wrong would be in jeopardy. So they trapped the power into five separate rocks and transported them to different parts of the world. So the witches thinking this was a great idea combined all their powers together and created 'power stones.'
Before the witches were sentenced to death, each of them elected a 'keeper of the stones' from the other withes and wizards who were not found to be using magic. After the Salem trials were over the group of the unaccused moved to Boston, and soon became known as the 'elders.' Making it their sworn duty to protect the stones at all costs, never to release their power unless absolutely needed.
SETTING Evangeline, the 'keeper of the stones', still lives in Boston, Massachusetts. The seven elders including Evie, are the only people with magical powers left in the world. At least that's what they think until one day a shadowy figure comes to town in search of the stones. In the shadows search for the stones he kills two of the elders, and the others flee to safety. Evangeline decides the only way to keep the stones safe is to distribute them to young men and women who show magical promise. She then begins a tour around the world awarding a specific stone to fit each person's personality, and teaching them how to use and control their powers.
Word got out that Shadow is looking for the precarious stones. Though no one knows if they really exist, the elders have become greif stricken, and have informed Evangeline to tell the new witches and wizards about the five stones. Some of the new power witches have sworn to find the stones and destroy them while some have... well some have less than honest intentions about their search for the stones.
